Security

  • Updates .NET to resolve the October 2026 security vulnerabilities Important

    Applies to: Server, Linux agent, macOS agent

    The Access Manager service installer now installs .NET 10.0.13, and the Linux and macOS agents now include the same runtime. This update resolves the following vulnerabilities, which affect the Access Manager web portal. An unauthenticated attacker could use them to cause a denial of service.

    • CVE-2026-70181 – ASP.NET Core Denial of Service Vulnerability
    • CVE-2026-70196 – ASP.NET Core Denial of Service Vulnerability
    • CVE-2026-58280, CVE-2026-69651, CVE-2026-96958, CVE-2026-96959, CVE-2026-96960 – .NET Denial of Service Vulnerability

    This update also includes the other fixes in the October 2026 .NET security release. Access Manager is not affected by them, including the critical vulnerabilities CVE-2026-105016, CVE-2026-88092 and CVE-2026-70188.

Improvements

  • Adds a NOSTART option to the Windows agent installer that installs the agent without starting its service

    Applies to: Windows agent

    Set NOSTART=1 on the msiexec command line to install or upgrade the Windows agent without starting the Lithnet Access Manager Agent service. Use this option when a deployment tool configures the agent after installation, or when you prepare a golden image that must not register with Access Manager before it is sealed. The service remains set to start automatically, and starts at the next system restart.

  • Signs every executable and library installed by the Windows agent and the Access Manager service

    Applies to: Windows agent, Server

    Every executable and library that the Windows agent and the Access Manager service install now has an embedded Authenticode signature, so application control products can allow them by publisher. Third-party components that their publisher has already signed, such as Microsoft .NET libraries, keep their original signature. Third-party components that were previously unsigned are now signed by Lithnet Pty Ltd.

  • Removes the agent installer's dependency on VBScript in advance of its deprecation and removal from Windows.

Fixes

  • Fixes an issue where the agent policy option to remove existing LAPS passwords from Active Directory did not remove them

    Applies to: Server

    When a password policy had the option "Remove existing LAPS passwords from Active Directory if present" enabled, Microsoft LAPS (legacy), Windows LAPS (unencrypted) and Lithnet LAPS passwords stored in Active Directory were not removed after the agent stored a new password in Access Manager. Windows LAPS (encrypted) passwords were removed as expected. These passwords are now removed for all Active Directory computers that the option applies to.

  • Fixes an issue where the macOS agent could lose the current password of an account with a secure token if a password change was interrupted or slow to complete Important

  • Fixes an issue where an encryption certificate that was deleted and then imported again was missing after the service restarted
